Project Size: 900m²
Project Value: NZ$0.9 Million
Location: Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand
Peddle thorp & Montgomery Ltd was commissioned by Cricket Wellington to undertake preliminary designs and feasibilities for the location of a Cricket Academy for Wellington in the early 1990's. Concepts and consents were obtained for a stand alone Cricket Academy and cricket administration at the Basin Reserve prior to the Stadium proposal gaining momentum in the early 1990s for the Railway Station site. During the planning of the Stadium other temporary proposals were considered by Cricket Wellington.
However after much deliberation and planning, Cricket Wellington settled for a scheme developed by Peddle Thorp & Montgomery Ltd to be located under the west side of the Stadium at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.
The facility is a 5 wicket, all weather, cricket training facility with state of the art bowling and batting facilities and a coaches training and seminar space. The facility was opened in 1997 and is the centre for Cricket Wellington's Club and representative training programmes, particularly during the off season.
The project was built by Fletcher Construction Ltd.
