Project Size: 500m²
Project Value: NZ$0.75 Million
Location: Wellington, New Zealand
Practice: Peddle Thorp & Montgomery
This fit-out for NDY takes advantage of the generous ceiling height within a new office development, to create an exciting work environment.
Existing exposed raw concrete surfaces and overhead timber plank infill flooring combine with new expressed structural steel, solid timber floors, new feature painted walls, exposed services and feature lighting to create a visually dynamic office space.
A long spanning solid timber floor in conjunction with exposed services, has allowed for optimal utilisation of the available space, with the insertion of a new mezzanine floor providing an overall increase in the available office floor area. This approach created an additional 500m˛ of useable floor space for the building owner, including a 90m˛ retail space frontage on to The Terrace, now occupied by a Wishbone Café food outlet.
Being able to expose the building services was an excellent opportunity for a leading edge services consultancy to make use of new technologies, which included the first use of a passive chilled beam cooling system in Wellington. The space also employs LED lighting that can be changed to suit the mood of the office.
