Location: Taupo, New Zealand

In 1990, Peddle Thorp & Montgomery Ltd entered into a National design competition run by the Taupo District Council to promote ideas for a Master Plan Vision Statement for the Taupo Urban Precinct and Environs.

The competition was run over a 9 month period and Peddle Thorp & Montgomery progressed through from a large field of participants with their initial concepts to a selected field of 12 competition participants and then down to a final 4 participants in the competition.

Over the period, Peddle Thorp & Montgomery surveyed a large number of issues and assembled a team of marketing and tourism consultants, planners, civil engineers, tourism specialists, cultural advisors, landscape architects and spoke with many community groups and interested parties to conceive the strategy plan. Peddle Thorp & Montgomery projected a comprehensive growth strategy presentation document and after public consultation feedback, the Peddle Thorp & Montgomery entry was announced as the winner by the Taupo District Council.

Peddle Thorp & Montgomery has subsequently developed a growing clientele in the Taupo District on a range of projects including tourism, residential, commercial and community projects.

Peddle Thorp & Montgomery has continued in recent times to consult with the Taupo District Council on urban growth and town centre commercial structure studies.
