Project Size: 15 000m²
Project Value: NZ$62 Million
Location: Rarotonga, Cook Islands
During 2006, Peddle Thorp & Montgomery Ltd was commissioned as Architect by a New Zealand joint venture client to design and complete the resort in Rarotonga that had been suspended in 1994. Peddle Thorp & Montgomery Ltd had completed some earlier work in 2004.
Peddle Thorp & Montgomery Ltd worked for the following 2 years with Hilton Technical Services and a large multi-disciplinary design team to survey, investigate and design the works to complete the Resort. The Peddle Thorp & Montgomery team projected extensive detailed design documentation for tendering the construction purposes. This was achieved against a tight time frame and budget constraints and having to resource a large part of the work from New Zealand. A project cost of some $62 million was arrived at to complete the 22 acre site with 15,000m² of building area on it. Peddle Thorp & Montgomery acted as principal consultant to the joint venture client.
The construction work start was deferred in early 2008 due to economic conditions and has not recommenced yet.
