"Architecture is frozen music, and music is liquid architecture." Goethe
A major refurbishment to the existing block, this project included construction of advanced performance spaces, recording studios and teaching spaces, to bring the infrastructure for music in-line with the importance it holds within Tawa College.
The design team worked with the staff to create innovative solutions to solve the design problems. This included rigorous development of acoustic detailing and careful selection of materials and finishes. As with other projects at the College, disruption to the activities of the staff and students was minimised by the design team working closely with the client to decide on suitable programmes and procedures, and with the builder to create designated secure and safe work areas.
