Project Size: 11 000m²

Project Value: NZ$20 Million

Client: ANZ Bank

This landmark Wellington building was completed in the early 1980s as a Head Office for ANZ Bank under the guiding direction of Architect Partner in Charge, the late Mr Jim Maidens, who was one of the founding partners of the Peddle thorp Office in Wellington.

The building is on a full city block triangular in shape and bounded by Lambton Quay, Featherston Street and Grey Street. The building is in the heart of the Wellington CBD with major banks of the time all being located in this precinct.

The triangular shaped glazed silver tower has a distinctive classy appearance from street level. Its form sympathetic to the shape of the site and streetscape sits proudly as a building distinctive of its era with the certain wall technology of that time being one of the leaders on the Wellington skyline for a long time.

The ANZ Bank has occupied the building since its completion and has undertaken various refurbishments to meet its functional requirements.

The building makes a quality contribution to Wellington's Commercial Architecture.
